Day 2 (February 1st) Novena

Intention:
For the Liberation of all those who have been trapped and bound behind the bars of the Culture of Contraception
Today we call to mind:
-the millions of women and girls who have either been convinced or deceived to go on the pill, patch, implants or coil
-the men and women who have been surgically sterilised
-the pharmacists, nurse and doctors  among us who are forced to dispense and distribute different forms of artificial contraceptives in their line of duty
-the conscientious, moral and religious objectors in western countries (like UK and US) who are being subdued, mandated and forced to pay for massive government contraception projects
Reflection:
Artificial contraception has become in our time the most widely accepted element of the Culture of Death. It is a real seed of discord that distorts the beauty and dignity of our sexuality as it devalues our love.
And from the most developed parts of the world, it has been framed and promoted as the key to women’s emancipation, but in truth it has turned out to be the key that has locked up millions of men and women behind the bars of selfish individualism, infertility and infidelity.
Unfortunately this Culture of Contraception is one that is spreading unimpeded in almost every country, culture, race and even religious community.
To the point that in many western countries, there is no room for conscientious, moral and religious objectors, as every organisation (even faith-based ones) are mandated and forced to pay for government contraception projects. This is a totalitarian culture and wherever it takes root, it causes much pain and takes many prisoners.

So today we raise our hearts to God through the powerful intercession of our shining advocate of genuine emancipation – Saint Josephine Bakhita , for the emancipation of all those trapped behind the bars of the Culture of Contraception.
Prayer:
St. Josephine Bakhita, you were sold into slavery as a child and endured untold hardship and suffering. Once liberated from your physical enslavement, you found true redemption in your encounter with Christ and his Church.
O St. Josephine Bakhita, assist all those who are trapped in a state of slavery; intercede with God on their behalf so that they will be released from their chains of captivity.
Those whom man enslaves, let God set free.
Provide comfort to survivors of slavery and let them look to you as an example of hope and faith. Help all survivors find healing from their wounds.
We ask for your prayers and intercessions for those enslaved among us.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
