As we prepare to mark the one year anniversary of Culture of Life Africa on the feast day of St Josephine Bahkita February 8th, we cannot think of a better way than to invite you to a timely novena (9-day prayer) for the intercession of our Patron Saint Josephine – an African woman whom God took from being a Slave to being a Saint.
Details:
The novena will be starting on January 31st to culminate on 8th February.
The main prayer for the intercession of St Josephine has been excerpted from the USCCB website and in addition to that, we have included a very short specific and carefully selected prayer reflection and intention for each of the nine days and this is what makes this novena special because each day we can entrust to St Josephine a new intention to be presented to God.
Intentions:
Because our Saint had known the excruciating pain of Slavery , the prayer for her intercession is for liberation of the enslaved. And thus, our daily intentions and reflections have been formed around and upon the theme of slavery.
As we all know, now more than ever before slavery is real as we have among us so many women “shackled” by all forms of contraception, we know too many bound by the chains of abortion, and even many more locked up in the cells of a highly sexualised culture.
There are too many slaves, too many of us are in pain and suffering afflicted by the sharp edge of the sexual revolution which slices and cuts down every man, woman, baby, boy, girl, youth and family in its path.
So in addition to our labour of love to promote abundant life and real liberty, we now will have the opportunity to pray as a community for all those who have been enslaved within the Culture of Death.
So if you are Christian, please consider joining us in our novena (9-day prayer) and please invite your friends and family too!
